A few weeks ago i booked a spot in Adam Lambert's new music video for his new single "If I had you."

I feel very honored to be a part of the project because Adam Lambert and the Director (Bryan Barber) hand picked 15 of us from out audition tapes. The shoot took place on a Wednesday night in Griffith Park. Our call time was 7:00pm, and we filmed til 5:00am the next morning.

I can't say much because of a confidentiality clause I had to sign, but the video is gonna be hot!

CLASS OF 2010 STAND UP!!!

Wow, it has been far too long since my last post. I have been a very busy boy. In addition to completing my senior project, taking an insane course load of 22 units, participating in a dance production, and directing finals, I have graduated!

Occidental College has been a very special place for me. Through all the highs and lows I have learned a lot about myself during my 4 years at Oxy. I am very reflective right now as I enter the next phase of my life. As corny as it sounds, I truly feel like I entered College as a boy, and I now leave as a man.

I am so thankful for all of the crazy experiences, the people I have encountered, and the lessons I have learned in College.

ELECTION 2009

DECEMBER 12 2009

A day I will never forget.

Now, part of the reason it took me so long to update was the fact that I was taking time to deal with the loss of the election. Many people don't realize this, but in many ways the loss of the election was like a death in the family. The death of a dream, The death of one potential future, and the death of a years hard work. I have gone through a myriad of emotions, but it was all worth it. We met some amazing people along the way as well as getting to know Houston better. My father gave up everything for a shot at becoming Mayor, and I am so proud of him. He ran his campaign with honor and dignity. He is a hero to me. Unfortunately I cannot go into too much detail on here, but many media outlets screwed him. A lot of mistruths were spread, and I urge you to not believe everything you hear. This process has opened my eyes to how ugly the world of politics can be. I will also think twice before believing the new big celebrity rumor I hear.

For the record, Perez Hilton, as did a lot of National media outlets, got some of the facts wrong because they got their news secondhand. For starters, my dad was NOT a conservative candidate. Also the margin of victory was not 53%. The vote was 53% to 47%, only a 6% difference. It was a very close race, with record low voter turnout, coupled with a smear campaign launched against my father. My father is NOT a homophobe and did not accept endorsements based on his opponent's sexuality rather than his ability to lead. I feel like the biased media felt a need to create an enemy to sell papers and get ratings (ABC 13 and Houston Chronicle) due to the fact that both candidates were very similar politically. It is important that I note that not all of the news media is so biased. I applaud Isaiah Carey with Fox News and Lee McGuire with Channel 11 along with a few others for their unbiased reporting. I put this out there only to clear some things up. My father graciously accepted defeat, and congratulates Ms. Parker.

We are now in January of a new year, and oh my God what a year 2009 was.

NEW YEARS

I spent New Years in Houston with my good friend Reema at a House Party. Reema has some great friends, and I had a really good time. To top it off, somehow I did not have a hangover the next day. If you ask me, I think that's a sign that 2010 is gonna be a pretty good year.

GALVESTON

I had gone to Galveston for the previous week with my family, and we had a great time in our beach house. I love the Ocean. I feel like it has healing qualities, and there is nothing like going out to the beach to clear your head, and get back in tune with nature. This time was great for helping my family collectively heal the wounds of the loss of the Election.

CHRISTMAS

This had the potential to be one of the worst Christmas' ever due to the loss of the Election, but it was one of the best. My family came together and we made great memories.

Life has been pretty crazy. I had a lot of auditions, midterms, I have been bar-tending, planning my next performance, and gearing up for my dad's elections.

I had a audition for a National McDonald's Commercial that went really well. I made it to callbacks, and they had me on hold. I made it to the top 3 out of over 100 plus interviewed, but did not get it.

I had an audition for ABC Family's Greek for the role of Ashleigh's new love interest. I felt really good about that one, and used the Ivanna Chubbuck technique to prep for the audition.

I went in for a "Sprite" Ad last week. That one was a little stressful because I did not get out of class early enough, and barely made it in time.

I had one yesterday for 90210. This is like the 6th time they have called me in, so I feel like they like me, which is good. We shall see.

In other news, I have been working on creating a pilot with my boys Morris Blackman, Julian Mitchell, Dijon Talton, and Jason Kaleko. More details to come.

SENIOR YEAR!!!!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I just started my Senior Year at Occidental, and it has been hectic trying to get organized. My life was so drastically different this summer with all of the acting classes and workshops, auditions, and working at American Apparel. I have been struggling to find the balance I need. I am excited for this semster because I am taking all Theatre classes, and I have finished all of my requirted classes.

AUDITION ROUND UP

Within the Past 3 weeks I have had 3 auditions

90210- David Rappaport, the Casting Director called me in for the role of "Stuart." Stuart is a stoner/surfer who hangs out with Liam and his friends. Though I did not get cast, I am excited because David keeps calling me in, and for roles that I might not be the obvious type.

SOUTHLAND- Southland is a primetime drama on NBC about crime in Los Angeles, and the police who handle it. I auditioned for the role of "Weezy,"
a member of the gang the Bloods.

THREE RIVERS- Three Rivers is the medical drama on CBS this Fall. I auditioned today for the role of Bobbie, a lab technichian.

I just had two Auditions.

I had an audition for 90210 last week. It went well, and the casting director remembered me (Which is always a good sign) but I did not get it. I met a cool guy named Jeff who is an intern at the Agency that represents me, and I ran into this dude who i always see on auditions. I'm telling you, it is a small world. I also got to see the 3 girls who star in the show (AnnaLyne McCord, Shenae Grimes, and Jessica Stroup), so that was fun.

The second audition was for a dance movie called "Beat the World." I auditioned for the lead character, a kid named Yuson. I met with an acting coach, Noah Blake, to prepare for the audition. I felt solid on the acting part, but the dance part was a freestyle to a song I did not know, so we shall see...

J Beat and the Beatastics Pilot

Last weekend we filmed the pilot for J Beat and the Beatastics!

J Beat and the Beatastics (Title pending) is a kids show about a group of High School kids in a Rock Band. I can't say much more due to the confidentiality agreement I signed, but details will follow as I am allowed to release them. The show has not been picked up yet, but will be shopped around to Disney, Nickelodeon, ABC Family, etc.

My character is the Bassist in the band.

THE SHOOT

We had a really early call time, 6:30AM in Santa Monica.

The first part of the shoot was the Garage Scene. Basically it is a scene of the band Rocking out to one of their songs in the garage. This was one of the most fun scenes to shoot because I really got to let loose. I got a little too ambitious on the Bass, and gave myself a blood blister on my thumb, lol. I think we got some really good stuff.

The wardrobe designer was so funny. We went through about 5 different looks before settling on the final outfit.

We took our lunch break around noon, which was perfect for me because I had a callback for a Kraft Cheese commercial that I was able to run to.

The second shot of the day was a set up at a school. We wrapped at about 6:00pm.

The following day we did a series of confessionals. I had a blast shooting this thing.

What a week! I had two auditions last week. As it turns out I booked them both!

Disney Step Up 3D Promo

On Thursday I filmed a series of promos for upcoming movies that are going to be released in 3D.

* The Nightmare before Christmas

We had a 9AM call-time. We shot on location at a theatre in West LA. The premise of the promo spot is that a group of young people are in a 3D theatre watching 3D films with graphics coming out of the screen. In the promo for Step Up, the music starts playing, some of the dance moves come out of the screen, and all of a sudden the lights change and the theatre turns into a club, and everyone starts dancing.

Some of the other promos had other cool effects like a ghost flying out of the screen and and interacting with the audience. It was a 13 hour shoot. Between takes we would jam out and sing with with this guys guitar. The food was soooo good! However, there was drama on set when this one girl kept acting a fool, talking and being unprofessional and got fired mid shoot by one of the producers! It was hilarious. He was like, "Her, she's done. Get her out of here, someone escort her off the set!" That was pretty crazy, I have never seen that happen before. I had a blast, and I got to work with my good buddy Brian K'lemm who is also represented by my agent. We met some really cool people on the shoot. Shout out to Cheryl, Teri, Tom, and Roger! I think the promo is gonna turn out pretty cool.

J Beat and the Beatsticks

So, the day before I filmed this promo I found out that I was being called back a pilot that I auditioned for called "J Beat and the Beatsticks." I was hella excited, except the callback was on the same day I was filming the promo. Well, come to find out, the producers liked me so much, that they cast me off my first audition, and I did not have to do a callback.

This is a pilot presentation. The show has not been picked up yet, but they will use what we shoot to pitch it to different networks.

We are gonna shoot the pilot next weekend.

Last night I went to the club Playhouse in Hollywood with Sean, Audrey, Natasha and Ali for a little celebration.

Hey guys,

I had an audition last week for a Wells Fargo print ad. The audition was easy, we just came in and did a few test shots. I should find out in a few days whether or not I booked the job. Things have been painstakingly slow in the industry right now. My manager says things will pick up after the 4th of July, so hopefully things will get better.

I had an audition the week before at MTV Networks in Santa Monica. The audition was for a new web series on MTV.com called "Savage County." It takes place in Texas, and is about a group of High School kids who take a prank too far. I wish I had gotten this one, because it seemed like it would have been fun.

I went to a bomb ass audition workshop the weekend before last in North Hollywood. Jen Krater, a noted acting coach and teacher in New York held a 2 day LA Intensive. The On-Camera Workshop was from 9am-6pm. I learned soooo much. She taught us a lot of technical skills that I was lacking. Feeling inspired...

Salon Sessions Photo Shoot

On Monday (Memorial Day) I got to do a Photo Shoot for the hair salon Salon Sessions. Salon Sessions is a noted salon located in Pasadena. They have done a lot of celebrity work, and used to do the makeovers for America's Next Top Model when the show was based in LA.

Back when I worked at French Connection in Old Towne Pasadena, I met one of the stylists, Kelley. Kelley loved my look, and told me she would like to work with me. So, last week she called me up, and we discussed the shoot. The team we worked with was very talented. The make-up artist was on point, and Keon the Photographer was great. It was a very pleasant shoot. I got to work with some very talented models, and I had a great time. I will post some of the pics when I get them.

I had an audition last week in Hollywood for a Short Film called "Jesus Comes to Town." I auditioned for the role of Bedhead Ned. We shall see what happens.

Another bit of good news, my family was in town for the past 5 days, and it was great. We did some shopping, some sight seeing, some touristy stuff, fine dining, more shopping, and we caught a show at the El Rey theatre. It was sooo good spending time with my full family. I miss them already.

On March 16th I saw Britney Spears live at Staples Center. The show was Awe-Inspiring. The PussyCat Dolls were a fun opening act. Everything about the show was Top-Notch. The dancing, the costumes, the lighting, the special effects, EVERYTHING! I loved it. I left the show feeling very inspired. It was great seeing her perform classics, as well as songs from "Blackout" and "Circus." My favorite performances were "Piece of me" and "Touch of my hand."

Bad Audition Blues...

So today I woke up very excited. I had a callback audition for the Promo on the Sci-Fi channel that I had auditioned for. The role called for a "skater boy." My friend Bobby gave me a crash course in skating last night, and my buddy Tope let me borrow his board. Things were looking good. I was able to ride the board with some relative ease, and Bobby taught me a trick on how to pop the board up.

I get to the audition (at the Casting Cafe on Santa Monica, in West Hollywood) and make some friends. The other dudes are really nice, and we have a good time waiting together. I'm feeling good...

They call my name, and I go in to audition, and I mess up completely. I looked like I had never seen a skateboard in my life. It was awful. The acting portion of the audition went well, but this definitely put a damper on my day.

I know that you can't always have good auditions, and I know that I need to just let it go, but it still sucks...

Last week I had an audition for a pilot on Nickelodeon. The show Is called Victoria. This show is intended to launch the career of Victoria Justice (a young actress who was previously on the show Zoey 101) The show is about a group of teenagers at a Performing Arts High School. I auditioned for the role of "Andre." Andre is her new best friend. The audition went extremely well. The casting director laughed, and was very engaged. I have not heard back yet, but I feel I might be too old for the role. The role calls for a 15-16 year old, but we shall see...

Hair

I recently got cast in one of the principal roles in "Hair!"

Hair is a rock musical set in 1968 that tackles the social political issues of the time. I play Hud, who is a member of "The Tribe." The Tribe are a group of hippies who hang out in the parks of New York. They have come from all over the United States.

The play has many great songs, and I am very excited to be a part of it.

Last Friday I had an audition for a Pepsi Commercial! The audition was at a casting agency on La Brea. My call time was 6:00, but I went early because I had a callback for the Musical Hair. The breakdown of the commercial is that a group of High School kids are hanging out drinking Pepsi. The audition itself was really fun because it was an improv. We were each given a bottle of Pepsi and a straw to work with.

I always feel a bit weird being called in for High School Roles when they also bring real High School kids, because I feel so much older. At the same time, I like having a younger face because it opens me up to many more potential roles, and most 'high school' roles are played by older actors anyway.

I had a lot of fun working on this project, and I got to record an original song for the the film. I play a young Jimi Hendrix.

Sorry, it has been forever since the last update. I had a very busy end of the semester, and I am currently having a great time back home in Texas with the family.

LAST WEEK IN LOS ANGELES

Okay, so I was scheduled to fly back on Wednesday December 10th after my last final. Well, I ended up having 4 auditions that week, and I got called back for the Nintendo Wii Commercial. I ended up changing my flight to December 16th so I could fly home with Solome (My Cousin).

I feel a lot more relaxed at my auditions now, which really helps my performance. I am also starting to feel like part of the community. I will see some of the same actors at auditions and I am making friends in the industry. I was shopping in Silver Lake for my moms Christmas gift with my cousin Solome, when I ran into one of the actors from the Nintendo Audition.

While I was in Silver Lake with Solome, we went to the Dean store. Dean sells beautiful leather bags, and other leather items. Solome and I had decided to get our Mom's purses for Christmas. I am glad she was there too, because I don't really know that much about bags. So we are about to check out when this man approaches me. He says, "Excuse me, Are you an actor?" A bit stunned by the question I reply, "Yes." Well, as it turns out, he is a photographer who does Fashion Photography, Celebrity Portraits, and is expanding to do Headshots. Apparently he liked my look, (Probably the hair) and offered to take free headshots for me which he will put on his site. Only in L.A. does this not come off as creepy. He gave me his card, and we parted ways. When I got home, I checked out his site and did some research on his work. I was really impressed with his work so we set up a shoot.

That day was a really big day for me. I kept telling Solome that I am so thankful. We are both so blessed; We love our schools, we have great families, great friends, and we are pursuing our dream. I really feel that everything happens for a reason. I had been doubting myself lately, and wondering if I had made the right decision, when I had this moment of clarity. I have to admit that I was kinda bummed that I had not booked my last few auditions. I was feeling low. Then I was able put everything into perspective, and look at all of the positives. I cannot rush my future. I can only take the necessary steps to guide it in the right direction. After that I have to let fate take its course, and you know what? I'm cool with that.

But enough with my rambling, I am starting to sound like a motivational speaker...

FINALS

Uggggghhhh! This was the semester of papers. I had a 12 page paper due Monday, 2 five page papers on Wednesday, and another on Thursday. Needless to say, I had to do a lot of writing.

LEAVING LOS ANGELES

So with all my papers done, and my flight changed, I was able to spend my last weekend in LA partying. The Fall Semester of 2008 at Oxy went out with a bang!

Well, those of you who know me know that I can be a bit spacey at times. So, I had changed my flight to Tuesday so I could fly with my cousin, but my dumbass booked the wrong flight, so we were not together. To add insult to injury, my flight was delayed. Other than that, it was a pleasant flight.

Quantum of Solace

BOND IS BACK!

Last night, me and my buddy Wes went to see the new James Bond film "Quantum of Solace." We caught the 10:10pm showing at Arclight in Hollywood. I don't even know where to begin! The film starts off like the bang of a gun. With its in your face action and pulsing soundtrack, it gives the viewer a jolt of energy like a shot of adrenaline. It hooks you instantly, and takes you on one hell of a ride.

THE OPENING CREDITS

"Another way to die," performed by Alicia Keys and Jack White, is the perfect song for this film. With its blues and electronic fusion, it is a breath of fresh air. The visuals are amazing. Bond is submerged in a desert sea of beautiful women.

THE STORY

This film picks up right after "Casino Royale." This is the first bond film to have a direct relation to its predecessor. Bond is on a quest to find Vesper's killer. I like this continuity. I feel it enriches our understanding of bond as a character. I don't wan t to spoil anything, so I won't go into details.

I loved the homage to Goldfinger! (You will understand after you see the film)

THE BOND GIRL

She is so beautiful. They did well. Russian actress Olga Kurylenko plays the exotic Cammile. She oozes sex appeal. She is also a very likable character. She is one of my favorite bond girls. I did not realize this at the time, but she plays the female lead in Hitman, and Max Payne. She is definitely an actress to watch.

THOUGHTS

I am really impressed with Daniel Craig as Bond. He is ushering the character into a new era. While he is still able to maintain the class of James Bond, he is an edgier, more badass Bond than we have seen in the past. Wes and I definitely agreed that this movie is a must see. I love the film, and can't wait to see it again.

Whew! Last week was one hell of a week. mY show opened (Blues for an Alabama Sky) and I had two auditions.

The first one was a National Nike Commercial. The audition was with Nicole Arbusto casting. I love Nicole, the casting director. She cast me in my episode of "1000 Ways to Die" Unfortunatly I was not able to take the job becasue it shot during the run of my play. I have to admit I was kinda pissed because it filmed in Miami, and the pay was great since it was a national. It would have been so much fun.

The second one was a Chevy commercial. The audition was in Beverly Hills. I think it went really well, and I had on a great outfit. I was a bit intimidated though, because most of the other guys they called in were models, but whatever.

I have had the pleasure of working on the play "Blues for an Alabama Sky" for about two months. We are working with guest director Tre Garrett who has worked on Broadway, and done many other impressive things. I am the male lead in the show. I play Guy Jacobs, a flamboyant costume designer in the 1930's post renaissance Harlem. The show is about a groups of friends, doing the best that they can during hard times.

This show has been very instrumental in my development as an artist. I learned so much more about the process through this project by virtue of the size of my part. This is the largest role I have had in a play in my college career. I have worked so much harder on this character than I have in the past, and have learned so much more because of that work.

I can't believe we open in two days! I love my cast. We have grown so close, and Tre is awesome. I don't wanna give too much away about the show, but I hope you all like it.

I just got back from an audition in Sherman Oaks. The audition was for the game Call of Duty: World at War for the Nintendo Wii. This is the 5th installment in the "Call of Duty" game series. So, I show up, I sign in, and I start to get in the zone. I'm sitting there, and I see this girl who looks hella familiar, but I think nothing of it. So after a while I start talking to her and her boyfriend (who was also auditioning) and come to find out they are from Houston Texas! Not only that, they went to my High School! Her is the real kicker. I know the girl! Her name is Carter, and I met her through our mutual friend Reema at two different parties in High School! The world is a small place. For the audition, we were paired off and sent into the room in sets of two. We used the "Wii Zapper" which is a special gun controller for the Nintendo Wii, and played the game. I had so much fun! In what other field can you play video games as your audition? I love this job!

Also, the Casting director was the same lady I auditioned for when I had the "Prop 5" Commercial audition! This is always a good sign, because since she liked me, she called me in for this one. They called in a lot of guys, and this was a sort of cattle call audition so I won't hold my breath. We shall see...

Taste of Oxy Performance

Ladies and Gentlemen, the moment I worked so hard for finally happened! Last Friday I performed at the "Taste of Oxy" event at Occidental College! The theme for this performance was Rock N Roll.

The Costume

After a lot of searching I settled on an all black motif for my costume. I bought a vintage leather jacket, handcuffs, black pants, a studded belt, black boots and a shirt with a skull on it. I wore my hair in a mohawk.

The Music

I sang a medley opening with "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N Roses as my introduction song. I then went into "Let it Rock" by Kevin Rudolf. I then transitioned into "Like I Love You" by Justin Timberlake. The last song I sang was "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) by Michael Jackson. I closed with a dance break to N.E.R.D.'s "Lapdance."

The Finale

At the end of the performance, I doused white guitar in Grey Goose, and lit it on fire!

The Drama

Well, as I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get everything ready, I realized that some of the technical details still needed to be ironed out. The official sound check had to be moved back to the day of the performance due to one of the contact people getting stranded. Because I wanted everything to be copacetic I was freaking out. Well after the sound check, I realized that the audio speaker system was not what I had hoped for. The mics were also acting up. Heres the kicker: THREE MINUTES BEFORE I WAS SUPPOSED GO ON MY MIC DIED! I was like, "What the fuck?" I had put a new battery in it that day! Luckily I was able to hit it 3 times, and it came back to life sort of. It only really gave me trouble at the end of the performance.

Repercussions

As an artist I did not want to give away any of my surprises. I know how fast news spreads, as soon as you tell one person, it goes on and on. So, for obvious reasons I did not tell anyone about the burning of the guitar. Also, my motto is "If you don't ask, they can't say no." Apparently I was almost called into the dean's office. The administration was pissed! Luckily I have friends in the Administration who really helped my out. I dodged a bullet :)

Sorry it took so long. I have been sooooo busy this week. On Monday I filmed my first Commercial! I tried to go to bed early because my call time was 7AM, but I was too excited to sleep. I hit traffic on the way, but luckily I was not late. The location of the shoot was Hollenbeck Park in Boyle Heights. Hollenbeck Park is a beautiful park with a lake and fountian, much like Echo Park. When I arrived on set, I met the crew, and immediately went into the trailer with the costume designer. We tried 3 different looks, and finally settled on a gray hoodie, and dark denim jeans. I then went to hair and make-up, and filled out my paperwork so I can get paid. I had a bit of downtime, so I decided to grab some breakfast from the craft service table. There was ceral, donuts, muffins, fruit, toast, eggs, and various other snacks. There was this 40 year old skanky ass man who was jogging in the park who kept circling us. Eventually he came up to us asking "Do you like this bird? Do you like this bird?" We were like "What is he talking about?" Turns out, this crazy fool had captured a bird, and was jogging with him clenched in his fist. I thought the bird was dead, but I could see his little wings flapping in his hand. It was weird. Anyway, we started shooting around 8:30am. We wrapped at 10:15am.

Hiking with Doug and Cassidy:

Cassidy and I have started a new tradition of going on hikes on Saturday mornings. The weekend before last we went to Switzer falls. That was an AMAZING hike. It was so beautiful. There is a waterfall and a pool. On our way back I had the brilliant idea of trying to take a shortcut. I saw a sign with a 2 on it, and assumed it was a shortcut to the 2 Freeway. I could not be more wrong. We ended up half way to Vegas on the California 14 Highway! I did not even know there was a 14! We were more than 50 miles outside of the Los Angeles city-limits.

On last Saturday we set out at 10:00 for Runyon Canyon. Well, somewhere along the way I missed my turn, and we ended up in the hills of Beverly Hills, so we hiked there. It was a nice change of scenery, and the houses were exquisite. This was a great location because the hills are really steep. After our hike we went to Cassidy's sisters house for a swim.

I got the job!!!! I will be in a commercial for Prop 5 in the upcoming election! We film on Monday! I am sooo excited! Because this commercial is for the election, I feel like it will be in heavy rotation! I am not currently a member of the Screen Actor's Guild (The Actors Union) but the are going to "Taft-Hartley" me in! Basically that happens when they find someone to do a job that is not in the Union, and they claim "this is the only person for the job," and the Union lets you in! I am so stoked because now I don't have to do extra work in order to get in! I had a great day! I went to the gym, cooked a good meal...all is well!

I had an audition today at 1:30 for a commercial for Proposition 5.

Proposition 5:

Requires California to expand and increase funding and oversight for individualized treatment and rehabilitation programs for nonviolent drug offenders and parolees.
Reduces criminal consequences of nonviolent drug offenses by mandating three-tiered probation with treatment and by providing for case dismissal and/or sealing of records after probation.
Limits court’s authority to incarcerate offenders who violate probation or parole.
Shortens parole for most drug offenses, including sales, and for nonviolent property crimes.
Creates numerous divisions, boards, commissions, and reporting requirements regarding drug treatment and rehabilitation.
Changes certain marijuana misdemeanors to infractions.

The audition was very simple. During my audition time slot they were looking at young black men, and old white men. The main thing they wanted to show in this ad was how people from all walks of life (ie different demographics) are united in support of Prop 5.

Hey y'all! So today I found out I had an audition that was scheduled during filming for "1000 ways to die." I ended up being able to swing by after we wrapped. I ran home changed my clothes and headed over to Hollywood. I get there and see song lyrics as oposed to sides. I'm like, "Oh shit...I don't know what i am walking into." Turns out is was an audition for a commercial for ROCK BAND 2! The guys sang "Apologize" by One Republic, and the girls sang "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé. Then we did guitar, and drums. I had so much fun! All of a sudden all the pressure was gone, and I had a blast! Apparently one of the girls from the Pussycat Dolls show was there (I did not know because I did not watch the show.) She ended up being in my group, and she was good people. On the downside, the audition ran a little late, and I got a parking ticket. Damn. Well, there goes 50 dollars down the drain...

1000 Ways to Die

Today was the day! I ended up skipping class so that I could shoot. My call time was 11am at Brand Park. This episode was called "Spiked" and will air in November (maybe the 11th). When I arrived on set I was a bit nervous, but the head Production Assistant made me feel at ease immediately. First I filled out some paperwork, including a W-4 so I can get paid. Then I went into wardrobe. I ended up wearing a red tank top, black sweats, and athletic shoes. After getting into costume I went to make-up. I was amazed with how nice the crew was, as a whole. After I finished in make-up, we went down to the field to rehearse. Because the show is more of a reenactment type show, we were able to do a lot of improv. The basic setup for the scene is four high school kids in gym class with their coach practicing throwing the javelin. We played with different archetypes, the jock, the nerd, the weirdo, etc. The other guys were really funny, and we had a great time messing around between takes. It was a really chill day because it was a very relaxed set. We broke for lunch around 1:30. The craft service table had delicious food. There was caesar salad, bread sticks, spinach, pasta, grilled chicken, and beans. We resumed filming around 2:10. At this point the actor who plays our coach went back into make up and had his bloody eye done. The make up artist really has skills. that shit looked disgusting. We wrapped around 3:30. It was a great day.

Today I had an audition for the Spike TV show "1000 Ways to Die." The audition was at 1:45 in Burbank. The character I auditioned for is a track athlete who witnesses his coach being impaled by a javelin. The audition was an improv, so I did not have any sides to prepare. The only note was to bring headshots, and dress appropriately. I decided to really get into to character, so I borrowed some track gear from my buddy Andy. I feel like I am finally getting into the groove of auditioning.

I just had an audition for a commercial for Travelers Insurance. I am very excited because I think the audition went very well. It was very simple, and fun. I researched Travelers, and I like a lot of their commercials. The audition for the commercial was in Hollywood, on Sunset. I was really nervous when I arrived. Near the sign up sheet they had a sign that said we needed to have our headshots, our information sheet, and the sides. Well, my agency never sent me the sides! I almost had a panic attack. Luckily the sign was wrong, and we did not need sides.

Living Legends!

Ok, so earlier this summer I had the pleasure of going to see the Living Legends play at the Wiltern. The show was off the chain. I had so much fun.

Yesterday my friend Jeven told me about this video contests the Legends are having. Basically you shoot your own video for their song "After Hours" and if they like it, they will use it in their video.

So this morning, we met up at 7AM and shot a little video in like an hour and a half. I have to admit, I did not know the words, but we did what we could. I am really impressed with what Jeven was able to edit together.

The End of an Era...

Um, well, by era I mean summer ;)

I'm back in LA! Today was the first day of classes, and officially the last day of summer. It is also the day of our last performance of “Han Solo and Gretel!” I have mixed feelings about this. I have to say I really learned a lot during the process, and enjoyed this summer so much more than last summer.

CASSIDY is back! I am so excited! Cassidy is one of my dearest friends in the world. We are practically family. It is so good having her back.

Being back in school is a bit weird. These first two weeks are full of:

…For now that is. Today was one of our last performances for Children’s Theatre, and it went really well! The day turned around after the show, and I made it to the airport in plenty of time for my flight. I am writing this on the plane and will post it when I touch down. The flight has been pleasant so far. I am not sandwiched between two heavy hitters, and there is not a lot of turbulence. I am flying to Texas to see my family one more time before summer ends, and to help my younger brother move into his dorm (He is starting college)

I am frantically making preparations for my trip back to Houston. If there is one thing I have learned about my travel habits, it is that I always over-pack. It's Wednesday, and I don't have shit to do. Maybe I will go to Geisha House again tonight. I had a great time with Farah and her friends last week. I really like the vibe when the crowd is good. I have learned that my go-to karaoke song is "Sexy Back." Last week I tried to branch out and it was not too pretty, lol. I sang "P.Y.T." by Michael jackson. The song is a sure crowd pleaser, and normally I am really good at it. However, I learned that when i am tipsy all my skills go out the door (duh). Well, I'm gonna go for a jog and figure out the rest of the night.

AHHHH!

So I recently had my first audition since I have been with the agency! The audition was for a guest appearance on the Sarah Comnor Chronicles (The Terminator tv show).

There was so much drama leading up to the audition (there was a huge timing conflict between the audition and "Han Solo and Gretel") but it all worked out.

I had a chance to prepare for the audition with an acting coach which I found extremely helpful. The audition went very well, and I am happy.

The Americana is the new mall that opened in Glendale. Its is a beautiful outdoor mall much like the Grove. The decor is lavish and over the top. I spent a lot of time here over the summer and enjoyed every moment of it.

Going to the Beach

I went to the beach many times this summer. I went to Santa Monica with my friend Nena. It was great going back because before this summer I had not made enough time to go to the beach. Another beach i visited was Zuma Beach in Malibu when my friend Andy came to visit. I had a great time with Andy, Farah, Ali, and Neil. The last beach I went to was Manhattan Beach with Yelli and Claudia.

The Making the Band 4 Tour

I had the pleasure of seeing Danity Kane and Day 26 in concert at the Wiltern. I loved that show. There was so much energy, and it was just a good day for me overall.

Swork

Swork has really helped me in my growth as an artist this summer. Whenerver I needed a place to go to chill out and write, or be creative, I would go to Swork.

Getting an Agent

This summer marked a lot of growth for me. I learned how to really get my shit together, and buckle down to achieve my goals. The process of getting an agent was so valuable to me because I learned that when I put my mind to something, i can do it. I love my team.

Karaoke at Geisha House

"I'm bringing Sexy back..." Those words helped me bring down the House at Geisha House. On Wednesdays they have Karaoke Night. I love karaoke because it is a fun venue for me to practice my craft. I love performing. Nothing makes me feel more alive.

Going Out

This summer I really made a point of trying to go out more in the City of Angeles. I have to say, I love this city.

Batman: The Dark Knight

Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger, Heath Ledger, Heath Ledger. "The Dark Knight" was an amazing film. I feel like it redefined the genre. The film was surprisingly dark, and chilling yet full of action and suspense. I feel like Christopher Nolan really got into the essence of Batman. As an audience member, I felt like I was in the film. The story was told exquisitely. I know everyone has been praising Heath Ledgers performance, and I have to praise it even more. He was simply amazing. He inspired me to step my game up. He embodied the Joker FULLY. As I watched the film I was watching the Joker, Heath was no where to be found. I loved that movie. I saw it opening weekend, and then again at the IMAX.

Whenever I need to chill out I like to drive up to the observatory and take in the city. I had some great times up there with Yelli and Claudia. I also had a blast when my friend Vanessa came to visit.

This summer I had the pleasure of growing closer with a lot of People. My cast for children's theatre, (Yelli, Kaja, Anna, Reba, Karen) I love you. Yelli: You my dawg. Dude, you are hella fun to kick it with. Claudia: you are amazing. So sweet, and so kind. Farah: I love our trips to Swork! You are such a funny girl. I have had so much fun with you and your friends. Nena: You are my boo. You are so kind, so generous, and so open. I love you. Rob: As always, it was a pleasure kicking it with you. Thanks for motivating me to jump-start my career. Ryan: I miss you man! There never will be another black house! Thank you so much for helping me build my portfolio!

The Return of Monroe and Audrey

As the summer ends, I was starting to feel like I was in quite rut. One day i get a text, and BOOM! Monroe and Audrey are back! I am so excited! I love these girls because they are so much fun and know how to not take things too seriously all the time.

Wow! I can't believe that the summer is over! At the same time, I am overjoyed that it is over because I am entering the next phase of life.

This summer I was a member of a physical theatre company. We put on an original production called "Han Solo and Gretel." This was my second summer in the company. This is a bittersweet time for me because I'm pretty sure this is the last summer I will be doing the program. In retrospect I am so glad I have done this program for two years. I have learned so much about myself, my craft, and my ability to persevere. I'm gonna miss it, but I am ready to move forward.

I am flying home to Houston on Saturday to visit the fam, so I am trying to tie up all my loose ends and put this summer behind me.

Hey Y'all!

My name is Doug. I am young actor in Los Angeles. I'm originally from Houston Texas, but moved out here in 2006.

As you can see I just started my first blog!

I went back and forth through many corny, trite names until I settled on "Sex Doug and Rock N Roll." Not the most original, but still strangely fitting. Sometimes less is more. You don't always have to over-think things.

As the summer ends I am feeling very happy and hopeful for the future. At the start of the summer I set up a series of goals for myself (the biggest of which being to get an agent) and I have accomplished them. I am in a good place, and ready to embrace the next phase of my life.

The time is right, and the elements are aligning.
